Mrs. Theresa Hemmi
Theresa Hemmi, 87, 2814 Burden Ave., widow of Peter Hemmi died at 1:30 am. Monday at the family residence after an extended illness. Friends may call after 7 pm Tuesday at the Didesch Funeral Home, from where services will be held at 9 am. Thursday to Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 pm. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hemmi was born Aug 15, 1868 in Bludenz-Voralbey Austria, the daughter of Sylvester and Catherine Fritschie. She came to Dubuque 80 years ago from Austria. She was married to Peter Hemmi in St. Mary's Church, Dubuque. Mrs. Hemmi was a member of the Holy Ghost Church, its Rosary Society and was a social member of the Sylvia Camp, Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are three sons, Arnold Hemmi, Kenosha, Wis, Clarence Hemmi, at home, and Peter Hemmi, Bellingham, Wash; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Mont and Mrs. Dollie Swartzell (sic) both of Chicago, Ill, and Mrs. Albert (Mollie) Betz of Iowa City, IA, and one brother, Herman Fritschie, Chicago, Ill.

Submitter Notes: Theresa Fritsche Hemmi was the daughter of Fidelus Sylvester and Catherine Fritsche. Theresa Hemmi was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Hemmi (1914); her daughter, Otillia Hemmi Kindle (1934); her son, Ralph Hemmi; grandsons, Ralph Hemmi Jr. (1924) and Robert Herman Kindle (1920). Several grandchildren also survive. Her brother Herman elected to use a different spelling of the last name; Fritschie versus Fritsche.
