Mary K. "Kay" Glab

Mary K. "Kay" Glab, 90, of ManorCare Health Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of 1735 N. Algona St., Dubuque, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at ManorCare.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Dubuque, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Dec. 9, 1918, in Dubuque, daughter of Henry and Ester (Aird) Broghamer. She married John "Jack" Glab on April 26, 1944; he preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1986.

Kay graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and was a secretary at Interstate Power Company for 15 years.

She was an active member of St. Anthony's Parish, where she volunteered as a tutor in the learning center and library. In 2002, she moved to Cedar Rapids.

Kay loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and friends. Collecting antiques, playing bridge, reading and gardening were some of her favorite pastimes. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her son, Michael (Nancy) Glab, of Swisher, Iowa; and her two grandchildren, Christina (Geoff) Ellis, of Chicago, and Nicholas (ErinLeigh) Glab, of Cartegena, Colombia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Anthony's Catholic School, c/o Holy Family Catholic Schools, 2005 Kane St., Dubuque, Iowa, 52001.
