Mrs. Paul (Nancy M.) Lang, 74, of 555 Alpine St., died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, Madison.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Raphael’s Cathedral. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m.

Mrs. Lang worked for many years as a self-employed sales person.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1929, in Dubuque, daughter of Berthold “Bart” and Alvina “Winnie” (Ernsdorff) Schmid. She married Paul Lang on June 21, 1961, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dubuque.

She graduated from the former St. Joseph’s Academy, Dubuque, and graduated from the Dale Carnegie Course.

She was a member of St. Raphael’s Parish and served as a Eucharistic minister. She also was a member of Business and Professional Women and Alcoholics Anonymous.

Nancy loved horses and horseback riding, swimming with her family and friends and long walks with her husband, Paul, whom she loved dearly.

Surviving are her husband, Paul H. Lang; six sons, Thomas (Andrea “Andi”) Boland, of Fairborn, Ohio, Paul (Lynette “Lyn”) Boland, of Smithfield, Ky., Timothy (Mary) Boland, of Eagan, Minn., Joseph (Frans) Lang, of Bellevue, Neb., and John Lang and Kenneth (Audrey) Lang, both of Dubuque; a daughter, Chris Chan, of St. Louis Park, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Schmid, of Oklahoma, and Paul (Mary) Schmid, of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Patrick, William and Steven; a brother, Kenneth; two sisters, Virginia, and Juanita; and her first husband, Thomas Boland, in 1959.

A Nancy M. Lang Memorial Fund has been established.
