DYERSVILLE, Iowa — Elizabeth A. “Betty” Kronlage, 75, of Dyersville, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Ed Petty officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be the parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1927, in Dyersville, daughter of August and Christina (Till) Schuster.  She was the youngest of 11 children (four brothers and six sisters). 

She was educated at St. Francis Xavier High School, Dyersville, where she graduated with the class of 1944. After graduation, she moved to Sausalito, Calif., where she worked in a bank. She then moved to Dubuque, where she worked for Dubuque Stone Products.

On Nov. 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arthur Kronlage at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. To this union, eight children were born.

Betty was a lifetime member of St. Francis Xavier Basilica.  Her life centered on her faith, family, friends and her home.

Surviving are her husband, Art, of Dyersville; three sons, Douglas (Vickie), of Charles City, Phil (Jane), of Bloomington, Minn., and David (Sherry), of Dyersville; five daughters, Beth (Stephen) Heims, of Manchester, Mary Kay (Keith) Newton and Aimee (Robert) Rooney, both of West Des Moines, Joan (Doug) Thompson, of Solon, and Karolyn Allen, of Omaha, Neb.; and three sisters, Lucille Meyers, of Dyersville, Kathleen Klaus, of Earlville, and Donna Jean Cook, of Oxford, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.
