Mary Kay (Mrs. Stephen) Nicks Petsch 1950-2001

Mrs. Stephen C. (Mary Kay) Petsch, 50, of 5430 Sun Valley Drive, died at 1:11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at the Finley Hospital, Dubuque, of cancer.

Chapel services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Petsch was a financial advisor who worked at Dain Bosworth and later at Brenton Investments. She most recently worked at Eagle One.

She was born on Dec. 8, 1950, in Dubuque, daughter of Joseph and Adeline (Mentz) Nicks. She married Stephen C. Petsch on Oct. 13, 1977, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Mary Kay was a graduate of Wahlert High School, Dubuque. Mary Kay and Steve enjoyed the outdoors, backpacking and exploring the National Parks. Fitness was important to Mary Kay; she walked and jogged as long as she could. Mary Kay especially enjoyed the friendship and support of her “card club” friends.

Surviving are her husband, Stephen C. Petsch, of Dubuque; her mother, Adeline Nicks, of Dubuque; two brothers, Gary J. (Mary Jean) Nicks and Melvin P. Nicks, both of Dubuque; two nieces, Joan M. Nicks and Sharon A. (Mike) Ellerman, both of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Nicks, on July 4, 1999.
