The fist white child ever born in the city of Dubuque and who had lived here all her life, died Sunday at her home on Eight and Bluff streets. Susan Ann McCreny was born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McCraney in this city, Jan. 10,1833. With the exception of a few years residence in Cascade, she has ever since resided int he city of her birth. On Jan 9, 1851 she was united in marriage to John S. Byrnes, and for thiry seven years a most happy union existed, when in 1888 she was left a widow. Those who now survive her are three daughters Mrs. Liston,of Liable, AZ; Mrs. Jas Rhatigan, of Tacoma, WA; and Miss Zadie Byrnes, of this city; and six sons, Henry, of Manchester; Fred of Forbes, Wyoming; and Charles, Ralph, Frank and Orlando, of this city. She is also survived by two brothers in California and also in Colorado.
