Lucille T. Curry

Lucille T. Curry, 86, of 2155 Decorah St., died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.. Friends also may call after 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 14, at the church.

She was born May 22, 1921, in Greenfield, daughter of Harry C. and Florence (Nungesser) Ellenwood. She married Buford T. Curry on Dec. 17, 1938, in Newton, Iowa; he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1991.

Lucille and Buford lived in Newton for 39 years before moving to Dubuque.

She was employed at Kmart in Dubuque for 22 years, retiring as the office manager.

Lucille was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a volunteer at Stonehill Care Center.

She was also a volunteer in the RSVP program of Project Concern.

Lucille, in her earlier days, enjoyed bowling and reading.

Surviving are two daughters, Caron C. (John) Curry-Klinkert, Seattle, and Nancy C. (Ted) Scherr, Dubuque; a son, Harvey R. (Ginny) Curry, Platteville, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iva Lou Schomer and Edna Mae Edge, both of Newton; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ellenwood, of Kellogg, Iowa and Belva Ellenwood, Seaside, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Curry; three sisters, Maxine Lahey, Opel Couch and Louise Birkenholtz; and three brothers, Lloyd, Clifford and Raymond Ellenwood.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Whalen and the nurses and staff of 3rd Floor at Finley Hospital and also the nurses and staff of Tri-State Dialysis for their loving care and concern for Lucille.
