Vincent J. Neuwohner

Vincent J. "Vince" Neuwohner, whom God granted a wonderful journey of 99 years and who resided with his daughter, Mary (Tom) Rettenmeier, 11158 Hidden Springs Court. and his son, Robert (Sherry) Neuwohner, 715 Noon St. and formerly of 1711 Clarke Drive and Menominee, Ill., died at 9:10 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008, at Ennoble Manor Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Knepper officiating. Burial will be in Nativity BVM Cemetery, Menominee, Ill. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, at the church.

Vince was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in 1968. He was a member of the John Deere Retirees Club. After retirement, he was a tour guide for John Deere for many years.

He was born Aug. 18, 1908, near Menominee, Ill., son of Bernard and Catherine (Rolling) Neuwohner. He married Bertille Stockel on June 25, 1936, in Cuba City, Wis.; she preceded him in death on July 14, 1993. They were married for 57 years. Vince and Bert lived in Galena, Ill., and moved to Dubuque in 1953.

He was a lifetime charter member of the Galena Eagles Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 510 and a longtime member of St. Anthony's Parish.

He enjoyed vacationing with friends, fixing old clocks and in his later years, he enjoyed camping with Bob and Sherry and their camping friends.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary (Tom) Rettenmeier, of Dubuque; two sons, Kenny (Carol Hingtgen) Neuwohner, of Geneseo, Ill., and Robert (Sherry Pemberton) Neuwohner, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Mike, Todd and Kris (Coffman) Rettenmeier, Steve, Jan (Dallas) and Paul, and David (Jody Kemp) Neuwohner; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerhart, Theodore, Lee, Arnie and Joe, and sisters, Ollie Richards and Mary Gable.
