Thomas P. Frommelt

Thomas P. Frommelt, 60, of 3980 Central Ave., died at 10:55 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, following a short illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

He was born on May 21, 1947, in Dubuque, son of Anthony J. and Virginia E. (Rupp) Frommelt.

Tom attended Holy Ghost Catholic School and Wahlert High School in Dubuque.

He married Betty Jean Buege on Sept. 1, 1979, in Dubuque; she preceded him in death on May 20, 2004. He then married Mary A. Nauret on June 30, 2007, in Algona.

Tom worked as a truck driver, driving more than 3 million miles over the years. He most recently worked for Art Pape Transfer in Dubuque. When he wasn't driving, he was riding his Harley. He would drive for work and ride for fun.

He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his friends. Tom was very well liked and made friends easily. He liked singing, karaoke, playing guitar and sitting in with various bands.

Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Frommelt, of Dubuque; three sons, John, Pat and Brian Frommelt, all of Dubuque; six stepdaughters, Barb J. (Tom Regan) Casey, of Dubuque, Debra A. Yost, of Brick, N.J., Lori M. (Joe) Streit, of Dubuque, Sharon L. (Bruce) Schmitt, of Epworth, Iowa, Candy M. (Tracy) Zimmerman-Brimmer, of Dubuque, and Nicole L. Fitzgerald, of Dubuque; two stepsons, Michael J. (Selena) Brom, of Gulfport, Miss., and James A. (Michele) Brom, of Dubuque; two sisters, Susan M. (Denis) Roling and Mary Beth Frommelt, both of Dubuque; three brothers, George A. (Candie) Frommelt and David C. Frommelt, both of Dubuque, and Anthony J. Frommelt, Ripon, Wis.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teri Lynn Brom; a stepson, Jeremy A. Zimmerman; a sister, Barbara Ann Frommelt, in infancy; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Frommelt.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Mercy ICU and 3 West.
