DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Catherine "Katie" Hoeger, 87, of Dyersville, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Oak Park Assisted Living Center, Dubuque, after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where a scripture service will be held at 4 p.m.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1920, in Dubuque, daughter of Aloys and Theresa (Heacock) Polfer.

She married Bernard Hoeger on June 21, 1944, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, in Dubuque; he preceded her in death in 1994.

Catherine graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and later Mercy School of Nursing in 1942.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Daniel) Geistkemper, of Dyersville, and Susan (Robert) Hunter, of Ankeny, two sons, Tom Hoeger, of Maquoketa, and Mark (Donna) Hoeger, of Dubuque; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Francis (Lou) Polfer, of Madison, Wis., and Clem (Angie) Polfer, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brendon Geistkemper; her parents; and brothers, Art, Clarence, Joe, Elmer, and Herman.
