Lloyd W. Seaman

Lloyd Wilson Seaman, 82, of 2065 Sunnyview, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Seaman was a partner at John W. Law Co. for 33 years.

He was born on June 17, 1925, in Browns Valley, S.D., son of Lloyd and Esther (Wilson) Seaman. He married Elaine Manternach on Aug. 8, 1946, at Nativity Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

He loved to play euchre, golf and was a die-hard Cubs and Fighting Irish fan. Lloyd loved to do wood work. He was a man of exceptional faith. He made homemade ice cream for every family event and was a strong supporter of his family and all of their activities.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 6, Knights of Columbus Council 510 and St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Seaman, of Dubuque; four children, Suzanne (John) Halloran, of Mishawaka, Ind., and Sara (Joe) Gianino, Sandra (Loras) Ambrosy and Paul (Ellen) Seaman, all of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren, Brian, Brendan, and Mary Brigid Haloran, Anthony, Nicholas and Maria Gianino, and Karin, Daniel, Benjamin and Ryan Seaman; seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way; a sister, Ardith (Jerry) Linn, of Hendersonville, N.C.; and a brother, Marlen (Shirley) Seaman, of Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers.
