Richard C. Pike
Richard C. Pike, 72, of 2857 Arbor Hills Drive, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, after a short battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount. Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Pike drove a truck for Standard Forwarding for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Teamsters Local 421, the Retired Teamsters.
He was born July 1, 1935, in Chicago, son of Harold and Ruby (Pick) Pike. He graduated from Moline High School in 1953 and attended Augustana College.
He served in the Army Reserves and was called to active duty during the Berlin crisis in 1961.
He married Alice Siegworth June 3, 1972, in Galena, Ill.
He enjoyed traveling, riding his Gold Wing and was an avid train collector.
He was a good father and husband, and the love of his life was his granddaughter.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Pike, of Dubuque; three children, Karen (Steve) Scott, of Sapula, Okla., Kathy (Jeffrey) Schetgen, of Parker, Colo., and their daughter, Sydney, and Kevin (Paula) Pike, of Dubuque, and their daughter, Bobbi.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank Dr. Philip Leeson, Dr. Mark Herman, and the nurses and staff on fourth and fifth floor at Finley Hospital. They would also like to thank everyone for their prayers and concern during Richard's illness.
