Charles L. "Charlie" Norpel

MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Charles L. "Charlie" Norpel, 63, of Maquoketa, formerly of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at Crestridge Care Center, Sunday, March 2, 2008, surrounded by his family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Bellevue, is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Aug. 10, 1944, in Dubuque, son of Richard and Janaan (Lewis) Norpel Sr. He worked at ARC, in Dubuque.

He loved spending time with his family. He loved country music, dancing, singing, playing his harmonica and guitar. He enjoyed going to movies, especially action films. His favorite holidays were his birthday and Christmas.

Surviving are his two brothers, Richard (Diane) Norpel Jr. and Stephen (Elizabeth) Norpel, all of Bellevue; and three sisters, Mary Norpel, of Dubuque, Suzanne (Charley) Fondell, of Bellevue, and Laura Norpel, of North Liberty; 16 nieces and nephews; and 21 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Earl and Gertrude (Ehrlich) Lewis, Charles and Laura (Meier) Norpel and Herman Pogeman.

The family would like to thank the staff at Crestridge Care Center and Heartland Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
