Johanna M. Boland, 92, who lived with her daughter, Mrs. George (Mary) Nacos of 934 Southern Avenue and was formerly of Ecumenical Tower, died Thursday afternoon, May 24, 1990 at The Finley Hospital.

Services will be at 2p.m. Saturday at St. Raphael's Cathedral, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetary, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and after noon Saturday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main Street where the wake service will be said at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Boland was born on Oct. 16, 1897, in Otter Creek, Iowa, daughter of John and Mary (Danehy) Smith. She married James J. Boland on January 14, 1924, he died on May 20, 1976.

She was a lifelong member of St. Raphael's Cathedral and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are 4 daughters: Mrs. Dominic (Joan) Goodmann, Mrs. George (Mary) Nacos, Mrs. Orville (Kathleen) Yaeger, and Mrs. Frank (Jean) Schumacher, all of Dubuque; a son, James C. Boland of Dubuque; 28 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Emmitt Smith of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She is also proceeded in death by a daughter, Sister Mary St. Johanna Boland, BVM and a son, Thomas Boland.
