Donna M. Bruggeman, 81, of 5325 Saratoga Road, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Hoffman Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where a wake service will be at 3 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1927, in Dubuque, daughter of William "Bill" and Lillian (Holland) Dean. She married Oscar E. Bruggeman on Oct. 30, 1945, in Holy Ghost Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2007.

In her early years, she worked at the former Dubuque Battery Factory, but spent most of her life raising her family.

She was a member of Resurrection parish and a former member of the Moose Lodge, in Mankato, Minn., where the family lived for 17 years. They also lived in Sacramento, Calif., for several years before returning to Dubuque.

Donna had a great love for animals. She was very devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and doted over her great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Edward and Michael (Donna) Bruggeman, both of Dubuque; three daughters, Sharon Hauber, of Dubuque, Susan (Mark) Bergman, of Mankato, and Tina Marie Bromley, of Lake Worth, Fla; grandchildren, Bill Bruggeman, Sonia (Tim) Casey, Destiney Bruggeman, Jennifer Wilming, Kim (Rich) Donovan, Rick Heiderscheit, Barb (Kyle) Cox, Jason (Liz) Kubitz, Jeremy Kubitz, Brian Hauber, Cory Bergman, Chase Bergman, Donna Bruggeman, Ashley

Reinhardt and Chance Farrell; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Furlong, of Dubuque; two brothers, Bill Dean, of Cincinnati, and Ray (Phyllis) Dean, of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis; sisters, Beatrice Nelson, Leffa Koenig, Jessie Kueper, Lorraine Tigges, and Jeanette Boyer; and a brother, Ralph Dean.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Whalen, the staff and nurses at the Tri-state Dialysis and The Finley Hospital.
