Marilyn Jean Wimer

Marilyn Jean Wimer, 57, of Sunnycrest Manor, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Sunnycrest Manor, of natural causes.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 2921 Central Ave. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 5:30 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1950, in Dubuque, daughter of James D. and Anna Mae (Tigges) Wimer.

Marilyn had many good friends at Sunnycrest. She loved the staff and they in turn loved her.

Marilyn was a happy girl, with a great laugh, and she was quite a trickster with the many little pranks she played. She also found it very funny if she could boot with her foot anyone walking by. Marilyn really enjoyed camping at Albrecht Acres and any outdoor activities. She liked listening to John Denver CDs and rock 'n' roll music from the '50s and '60s. Marilyn had a great relationship with the male nurses and aides at Sunnycrest; they brought her joy. She will be missed by her mother and family and also her Sunnycrest "family."

Surviving are her mother, Anna Mae Wimer, of Dubuque; three sisters, Joyce A. (Garry) Lucas and Karen L. (Paul) Behr, both of Dubuque, and Linda K. Reisdorf (Rodney Clark), of Davenport; two brothers, Darwin J. Wimer, of Millerville, Md., and Darryl J. Wimer, of Dubuque; four nieces and and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, James D. Wimer; two brothers, John and James, in infancy; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Wimer.

A Marilyn Wimer Memorial Fund has been established.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.behrfuneralhome.com.

The family would like to thank Dr. Viner for his kindness and compassion, the nurses and all the staff at Sunnycrest Manor for their loving care and concern for Marilyn and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque for their help for Marilyn and the family.
