Priscilla Gansen

Priscilla Gansen, 91, of 2545 Asbury Road, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with Father Daniel J. Knepper officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Peosta, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a prayer service at 3 p.m.

She was born Feb. 27, 1916, in Placid, daughter of Frank and Irene (Chapman) McDermott. She married Joseph B. Gansen in 1937, in Placid; he preceded her in death on March 12, 1968.

In her early years, she worked at Hillcrest Family Services, and later at the Dubuque Golf and Country Club for many years.

She was a member of St. Anthony parish and its Rosary Society. She had served as a Girl Scout leader.

She loved playing cards and reading. She was a strong Chicago Cubs and Bulls fan. She also enjoyed making quilts for the family. She was very devoted to her family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Gansen, of Dubuque, and Peter (Joann) Gansen, of Otter Creek; one son-in-law, Jim Smith, of East Dubuque, Ill.; her grandchildren, Julie (Jake) Belken, Jean (Craig) Jackson, Jim (Lisa) Smith, Melissa (Cory) Gansen Beauchamp, Christopher (Molly) Gansen, Teresa (Saeed) Gansen and Jesse (Amara) Gansen; great-grandchildren, Jacob (Amy) Belken, Joey (Bridget) Belken, Alan Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Keith Smith, Kimberly Smith, Leif Griner-Gansen, Devontae Gansen, Andrew Gansen and Emma Beauchamp; great-great-grandchildren, Madison and Summer Belken; a special nephew, Brent Golden; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by one infant daughter; and a daughter, Joan Gansen Smith.
