David R. Goerdt

Earlville, Iowa -- David Richard Goerdt, 54, of Earlville, formerly of Epworth, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, of a massive heart attack.

He was born on March 19, 1953, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, son of Lavern and Ada (Kline) Goerdt. He married Nancy (Wessels) Reddin, on June 19, 1978, in Epworth.

Mr. Goerdt was a 1971 graduate of Western Dubuque High School and was employed with Distinctive Woodworks, Earlville.

He loved working with woodcrafts and made quite unique items.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy; a son, Christopher, at home; stepchildren, Jeff Reddin, of Davenport, Jeremy (Angie) Reddin, of Triumph, Ill., and Jennifer (Ron) Pauley, of Valrico, Fla.; brothers, Don (Pat) Goerdt, of Farley, and Dariss (Phyliss) Goerdt, of Iowa City; and five step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Diane Skoville.
