Ruth E. Frommelt

Ruth E. Frommelt, 94, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 3125 Pennsylvania Ave., died at 7:25 p.m., Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at the care center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 1, 1913, in Lake City, Minn., daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Horch) Steuck. She married Clarence Frommelt on April 10, 1939, in Peoria, Ill.; he preceded her in death on May 28, 1998. She worked as a sales clerk at Sears for 11 years.

Ruth was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 1287, the ACCW and various other social clubs. She volunteered at Stonehill Care Center, Luther Manor and Xavier Hospital.

Ruth also enjoyed crafts, crossword puzzles, reading books and going to lunch with her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Carole E. (Tony) Faulhaber, of Dubuque; a son, Richard R. "Rick" (Joan) Frommelt, of Dubuque; six grandchildren, Laura (Billy) Murphy, Steve Faulhaber, Ken Faulhaber, Jeff (Judy) Faulhaber, Carrie (Kevin) Brandel and Chris Frommelt; nine great-grandchildren, Cassy and Jayme Murphy, Colin, Jesse and Lanie Faulhaber and Remington, Maggie, Charlie and Alynne Brandel; two nephews, Don (Pat) Steuck and Bob (Kay) Steuck, both of Dubuque; a niece, Diane (Roger) Klingsman, of Dubuque; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ralph (Marie) Steuck.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at 2 North at Stonehill Care Center and the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque, especially Dawn D., for their loving care and concern.
