NAPLES, Fla. -- Derek A. Christensen, 20, of Naples, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, as a result of a hit-and-run accident.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. A life celebration will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the home of Jerry and Dawn for friends and family.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1987, in Naples, he was a lifelong resident.

Derek is survived by his loving parents, Jerome A. and Dawn (Fritsch) Christensen and a brother, Colin J. Christensen, of Naples; his grandparents, James and Shirley Christensen, of Delhi, Iowa, and LaMerne (the late, Nicholas) Fritsch, of Dubuque; "special Florida grandparents," James and Pearl Beals, of Bonita Springs; great-grandparents, Claude and Edna Hill, of Dubuque; uncles, Douglas (Dianne) Fritsch and Joseph Christensen, both of Dubuque, and John (Roxanne) Christensen, of Fort Worth, Texas; an aunt, Lisa (Silvanus) Udoka, of Greensboro, N. C.; and his girlfriend, Brittney French of Naples.
