Jeanne M. Klaeska

Jeanne M. Klaeska, 68, of 1810 Chaney Road, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Knepper officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

Mrs. Klaeska was employed at Hillcrest Family Services in Dubuque for 28 years, until her retirement in 2007, when she received the Nancy Hill Award.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1939, in Dubuque, daughter of Alfred and Irene (Stuart) Vincent. She attended Prescott Elementary and Nativity Catholic School and graduated from the Visitation Academy in Dubuque.

She married Carl F. Klaeska Jr. on Aug. 20, 1960, at Nativity Catholic Church in Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2002.

Jeanne was a member of St. Anthony's Parish and was an avid bingo player. She was also well-known for her cooking. Surviving are her daughters, Shelly J. (Ross) Hall, of Orlando, Fla., and Sue M. Klaeska, Sheree J. (Frank) Miller Jr. and Stacie L. (Steve) Vaassen, all of Dubuque; a son, Carl Francis (Sara) Klaeska III, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Melissa Hall, of Orlando, Franklin Miller III, of Frankfort, Ind., and Kristina Miller, Zach, Jake and Lucas Vaassen and Carl Klaeska, all of Dubuque; two great-grandsons, Austin and Alexander Miller, of Frankfort, Ind.; brothers, Patrick (Karen) Vincent, of Mukwonago, Wis., Raymond Vincent, of Dickeyville, Wis.; and sisters, Carol (Jim Williams) Keller, of Potosi, Wis., Rose (Butch) Valentine, of Dubuque, and Karen O'Rourke, of East Dubuque, Ill.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Catherine Marie Vincent.

Jeanne's family wishes to thank Dr. Jack Berg, of the University of Iowa Hospital, the Medical Associates oncology nurses and Wendt Regional Cancer Center for their compassion and care. They also would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Dubuque, especially Ann and Edna, for their great care and concern for Jeanne during her time of illness.
