Agnes C. Kintzle

MANCHESTER, Iowa -- Agnes C. Kintzle, 88, of Manchester, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at home following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester, with the Rev. Nick March officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1920, in Holy Cross, daughter of William P. and Ruth (Webber) Meyer. She lived there until age 12 when she moved to Worthington. Agnes attended school in Holy Cross and Worthington.

She married Irvin J. Kintzle on Oct. 5, 1939, in Worthington; he preceded her in death in 1992. The couple farmed in the Monticello area 12 years before moving to Earlville in 1953. Together they farmed 53 years, retiring to Manchester in 1982.

Agnes was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and St. Mary's Study Club.

Agnes' first love was her family. She loved every moment she had with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She loved hearing them laugh and sharing their life journeys. She also enjoyed living next to St. Mary's school where her great love for children was well-known as a dedicated volunteer. Agnes enjoyed gardening, playing cards and was a member of several card clubs.

Surviving are her 10 children, Al (Ronda) Kintzle, of Arlington Heights, Ill., Jerry (Betty Heid) Kintzle, of Denver, Colo., Jean (John) Kennedy, of Kansas City, Kan., Dale Kintzle and Dave Kintzle, both of Manchester, Jan Burback, of Cedar Rapids, Rick (Anita) Kintzle, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Ruth Ann (Mike) Finnell, Kathy (Mark) Harris and Mark (Jackie Newton) Kintzle, all of Earlville; a brother-in-law, Carl Kintzle, of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Meyer; her step-father, Phil Winter; a son, Michael Kintzle, in 1984; a granddaughter, Cindy Kintzle; sisters Mary Reynolds and Bernice Brunkan; and a brother, Gerald Meyer.

Agnes' family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Amenity Hospice team for their wonderful care, especially Cindy. Her last months were made to be especially meaningful because of you.
