NEW VIENNA, Iowa -- Alois F. "Allie" Lansing, Jr., 94, of Guttenberg, formerly of New Vienna, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at the Guttenberg Care Center, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with the Rev. John O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7 p.m.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1913, in New Vienna, son of Aloysius and Anna (Wedewer) Lansing. He married Agnes Lueck on Aug. 31, 1937, in New Vienna; she preceded him in death in 2001. Together they farmed in the New Vienna area until their retirement in 1991.

He was a devoted and loving father and husband. As it was his life and hobby, Allie was a true American farmer. He loved to socialize and reminisce with his many friends and family and some of his favorite sayings were "I can't complain" and "I can't help that."

Surviving are two sons, Fred (Kathy), of Guttenberg, and Ron (Joyce), of Luxemburg; two daughters, Rose (Louis) Ronnebaum, of Earlville, and Marilyn (David) Lueck, of Dyersville; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Zita Lansing, of Dubuque, and Sr. Esther Lueck, FSPA, of La Crosse, Wis.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alois III; three brothers, Leo, John and Clement; four sisters, Gertrude Steger, Catherine Bockenstedt, Josephine Bockenstedt and Marie Weber.
