Maureen A. Dueland 1940-2008

GALENA, Ill. -- Maureen A. Dueland, 67, of Galena, formerly of Dubuque, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Midwest Medical Center, Galena, from lung cancer with brain involvement.

There will be no service or visitation. A public reception celebrating her life was held in Dubuque, on Nov. 23, 2007, a few days following her diagnosis. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena, in a private family ceremony led by her longtime sister in Christ, Mrs. Patty Haas, of Dubuque. The Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on July 9, 1940, in Dubuque, daughter of James and Alice (Connor) Collins.

She and her husband Ronald had recently sold their home at 122 Blackhawk Trace in the Galena Territories.

In this life Maureen was best known as an accomplished pastel artist, and loved to play golf despite the lack of any natural ability. But most of all she loved reading her Bible in the morning seeking her Lord's counsel, knowing that He would someday receive her into glory. (Psalm 73:24).

Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Ronald; two sons, James, of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Benjamin, of Sonoma, Calif.; two daughters, Elizabeth, of Sonoma, and Molly (Jon) Kreiss, of Dubuque; and 11 grandchildren, including Ellen Dueland, of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son, Raymond.
