Edith M. "Edie" Oberhoffer, 87, of 3131 Hillcrest Road, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Luther Manor, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

She was born on May 5, 1920, in Dubuque, daughter of Raymond and Violet (Stant) Kringle. She attended the Academy of the Visitation.

She married George Oberhoffer on Aug. 8, 1940, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on March 5, 1997. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

She worked at the National Butter Co.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Retired Eagle Activity Club (REAC).

Edie enjoyed crossword puzzles and grew roses. She loved all children and her cats.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary E. (James) Farley, of Arvada, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Frances Kringle, of Dubuque; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special friend, Betty Birch, of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Viola Kringle; and a brother, Richard Kringle.
