Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 1185 Route 35 N., East Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture service at 6:30 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 12, 1939, in Sioux City, Iowa, daughter of Roger and Mollie (Mozell) Story. She married Louie Miller on April 10, 1963, in Chicago.

She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Dubuque, in 1962. She worked at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque as a registered nurse for 37 years retiring in 1998. After retiring, she worked at the Second Hand Rose, which she and Louie owned and spent a lot of time there together.

She was a loving and caring person who always put her needs last. She had so many people that loved her, including family and so many dear friends. She was an excellent nurse, mother, sister, wife and friend. Anyone who knew her knew she "loved to laugh." She loved life, family and friends.

She enjoyed the vacations she and Louie shared, her favorite places to visit were Mississippi and many resorts in Mexico which they shared with many of their friends.

She loved the White Sox, Bears, and Michael Jordan. She also enjoyed all the Mondays with Mara, and gambling "down south" on the weekends. She also loved to read and water-walk.

Surviving are her husband, Louie; their children, Mark Miller, of Dubuque, Michael (Pam) Miller, of East Dubuque, and Molly Miller and Mara (Tom) Garner, both of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Marisa, Lacey, Britini, Josh, Mykenna, Sarina, Angelina, Jaidyn and Layne; three step-grandchildren, Michael, Tommy and Matt; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Alivia; and a brother, Mike (Lynn) Story, of Meridian, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her mother-in-law, Gertrude Gross.

Special thanks to all the good friends who never forgot her for one minute through the last three months. Thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, Finley Home Care, Dr. Mark Hermann for being sincerely genuine to Pat and the rest of her family.
