Rita C. (Duster) Weydert

Rita C. (Duster) Weydert, 83, of Ennoble Manor, formerly of 1605 Bies Dr., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at Ennoble Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in "Garden of Our Lady" at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m.

Rita worked at Ertl Co., later as a supervisor at Mastercraft Instrument Co. for 30 years. When semi-retired, she was employed at Bishop's Buffet at Kennedy Mall until retiring.

She was born on Jan. 11, 1924, in Rickardsville, Iowa, daughter of Louis and Margaret (Hess) Freiburger. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Rickardsville.

Rita married Edwin Duster on Jan. 11, 1943, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Rickardsville; he preceded her in death on April 21, 1986. She later married Robert Weydert on July 16, 1988.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Senior Citizens Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, 62 plus and several dancing groups.

Her favorite activities were dancing, playing keyboard, card playing, traveling, picnics and family gatherings, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she enjoyed a day out at the Diamond Jo Casino.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt of many nieces and nephews. Surviving are her husband, Robert Weydert, of Dubuque; her children, Darlene (James) Mullen, of Arizona and their children, Steve (Kathy) Mullen, Tom (Minhtha) Mullen, Susan (Tony) Kirsch and Kari (Scott) Kibby, Rose Mary (Elmer) Arensdorf, of Dubuque, and their children, Mark, Michelle and Mike (Angie) Arensdorf, Ronald (Susan) Duster, of East Dubuque, Ill., and their children, Laura Williams, Lisa (Geoff) Barklow and Brian (Stacy) Duster, Roger (Carol) Duster, of Dubuque, and their children, Kyle (Michelle) Duster, Gina Connolly, and Kevin (Alissa) Duster, Robert (Mary) Duster, of Dubuque, and their children, Shawn Duster and Chad (fiance, Becky Muller) Duster, Gary (Patti) Duster, of Dubuque, and their children, Amy Duster, Jeff (Melissa) Duster and Chris Duster; a stepdaughter, Mary Anne (William) Stegeman, of Los Cruces, N.M.; 30 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Modesta Koerperich, of Farley, Iowa, Margaret (Bernard) Ellerbach, of Holy Cross, Iowa, and Luella (Donald) Cogan, of Dubuque; and a sister in law, Alberta Freiburger, of St. Catherine, Iowa. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Adams and Rose Mary Ellerbach; and three brothers, Emmet, Irvin and Louis Freiburger.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Heartland Hospice and Ennoble Manor for their loving care.
