DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Bernice A. Lansing, 88, of Dyersville, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1919, in Farley, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Oberbroeckling) Kramer.

She married LaVerne Lansing on Jan. 10, 1939, in Farley; he died in November 1982. Together they farmed near Dyersville until their retirement in 1982, when they moved to town. Their farm would later become the site of the movie "Field of Dreams."

Bernice enjoyed playing cards, gardening and flowers, especially her lilac tree, which so many people raved about. She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center, where she was a member of The Martha's. She loved to spend time with her family and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Don (Becky) Lansing, of Dyersville; three daughters, Mary Lou (Bill) Thomas and Betty (Jim) Boeckenstedt, both of Dyersville, and Carol (George) Davis, of Farley; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, La Verne Kramer, of Lamont, and Herbert Kramer, of Dyersville; and three sisters, Lorraine Kramer, of Dyersville, Martha Jane Demmer, of Farley, and Arlene Jaeger, of Dyersville.

In addition to her husband, she also was preceded in death by her parents; two children in infancy, Richard and Darlene; three sisters, Evelyn Winters, Mercedes Ries and Marcella Kramer; and four brothers, Ray, Leonard, Clarence and Joe.
