DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Ferdinand A. "Bud" Nesler III, 91, of 560 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville, formerly of Dubuque, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church. Private burial will be held at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where the rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mr. Nesler owned and operated the Nesler Radio and TV shop for 30 years.

He was born on Oct. 6, 1916, in Dubuque, son of Ferdinand A. II and Gladys (Taylor) Nesler. He married Rita Mae Baecker on Nov. 27, 1944, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Bud graduated from Senior High School in 1937, and went on to attend Columbia (Loras) College.

He enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River, and was a founding member of the Dubuque Water Ski Club. Another one of Bud's hobbies was being a ham radio operator. For the past 3 years, Bud resided in Dyersville.

Surviving are his wife, Rita Mae, of Dyersville; his children, Carol (Floyd) Krapfl, of Dyersville, Ferd (friend, Jackie Wathen) Nesler IV, of Dubuque, Natalie (Dale) Brimeyer, of Cary, N.C.; a sister, Gladys (Bill) Bacon, of Cary, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Marcia Nesler, of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John J. Nesler.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Finley Hospital.
