Rosemary Adams

Rosemary "Tiny" Adams, 74, of 3425 Meggan Dr., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Egelhof-Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

She was born on May 31, 1933, in Dubuque, daughter of Christopher and Josephine (Casper) Gantenbein.

She married Sylvester Manders; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1953. She married Charles Adams on May 22, 1954; he also preceded her in death.

For years Mom "Tiny" was widely recognized as the "check-out" lady at K-Mart where she worked for nearly 30 years. She made many friends during her time there and still kept in touch with many of them since her retirement. Rosemary also worked for Re-Max for seven years.

She was an active member of the Sertoma Club and Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ.

Rosemary loved to walk and travel with her family.

To the rest of us she was known as mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and friend. She had a tough, wonderful life with no regrets. She was a loving wife to dad "Chuck." When he passed away at a young age mom was a role model of perseverance. She was an active, vibrant person, giving her time to family and friends. Her passion was her family and she held a special place in her heart for her beloved pets.

Through her life we learned about love and family and through her illness we learned more of the same. In her passing we are left longing for more. You are truly our hero, the wind beneath our wings and the wind will carry us forever. You made the world a better place and now you are doing the same for heaven. Please know that we will always love you, stay together as your family and celebrate the wonderful life you have given us.

Surviving are her six children, Mark (Lois) Adams, of Anoka, Minn., Michael (Anita) Adams, of Hazel Green, Wis., and Greg (Nancy) Adams and Jerry (Deb) Adams, both of Dubuque, and Jim (Karen) Adams, of Asbury, Iowa, and Kim (Jan) Warwick, of Ames, Iowa; a brother, Russ Gantenbein, of Dubuque; four sister-in-laws, Florence Gantenbein, of California, Gert Gantenbein, of Dickeyville, Wis., and Sally Adams and Shirley Fuerst, both of Dubuque; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a son, in infancy, Charles Adams III, on June 19, 1967; three sisters, Charlotte Miller, Bev Foulks, Marc Schaefer; and two brothers, Ray and George Gantentein.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Mark Hermann and his staff for their compassionate care and Hospice of Dubuque.
