August Wunderlich Died Saturday Evening After Illness Of But An Hour
___________________

August Wunderlich, a resident of Dubuque for more than sixty-one years, died in his room at the Fincke hotel, 3365 Couler avenue, at 6 o'clock Saturday evening, after an illness of only about an hour. He complained of not feeling well and went to his room. A few minutes later persons around the place went to his room to ascertain how he was getting along and found him in great distress, though still conscious. A physician was hastily summoned but his services were of no avail and death resulted as stated above. Leakage of the heart was given as the cause of death.

The death of Mr. Wunderlich comes as a great surprise to his many friends in the city as he has recently been about as usual and was out at the races during the past week.

Mr. Wunderlich was born in Saxony, Germany, Feb. 1840 and came to America and Dubuque when he was but fourteen years of age. He married about fifty years ago, his wife, who was Miss Catherine Schunk, having preceeded him in death about six years. He is survived by six sons and one daughter: Fred M., Frank and Charles of Dubuque, Ewald of Dayton, O., and Mrs. Willard Flynn of Waterloo.

No funeral arrangements had been made Saturday night.
