Charles W. Blichmann

Charles W. Blichmann, of 3033 Lemon Street, died at a local hospital at 12:05 Saturday following one week’s illness.

The funeral will be held from the Haudenshield Funeral Home, 2170 Central Avenue, Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock to the Immanuel Congregational Church at 2:30 o’clock.

Burial will be made in Linwood Cemetery.

The deceased was born in Germany, February 14, 1857 and came to Dubuque when 13 years old.

He was employed at the Connolly Carriage works for 45 years as a painter, and 18 years as an automobile painter, and then had been retired for the past seven years.

He was a member of Immanuel Congregational Church, Men’s Club of that church, serving as deacon of the church for 30 years. He was also a member of the Court of Honor, Lodge No. 82.

He is survived by a daughter, three sons, Miss Bernice, of Chicago, Edward, Dolph and Arthur of Dubuque, one brother, Herman Blichmann, Van Nyes, Calif., and seven grandchildren.

His wife and two sons and one sister preceded him in death.

FUNERAL (Saturday, July 1, 1939)

The funeral of Charles W. Blichmann, 3033 Lemon Street, who died at a local hospital Saturday, was held from Hausdenshield Funeral Home, 2170 Central Avenue, to the Immanuel Congregational Church at 2:30 o’clock.

The Rev. J. Nevin Lylerly officiated at the services and the graveside in Linwood Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers, deacons of the church, were Prof. A. C. Kleine, Robert Sommers, Karl Schmitt, and Louis Ruh.

Active pallbearers, trustees of the church, were Leo McGinnes, Howard Kifer, George Jansen, Louis Scheppele, Richard Otto, and Donald Meisner.

Attending the funeral from outside the city were August Kress, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kress, and Mrs. Mabel Haas, all of Lancaster, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Langmeyer and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Gilliam, Potosi, Wis.; and Evelyn Miller, Chicago.

Hymns during the service were sung my Miss Helen Stuber, accompanied by Nevin Lyerly, organist.

Preceding him in death with his wife were two sons, one sister, and one brother, John Blichmann.
