John Blichmann, Sr.,

Prominent Dubuque Resident is Dead

John A. Blichmann, Sr., well known Dubuquer, died Sunday morning at 4 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Doran, 922 Center Place, after an illness of several months duration.

He was born May 27,1868 in New York an came to Dubuque as a child with his parents, Henry and Mary Blichmann. He attended the public schools and upon graduation from high school he entered the employ of the old Morrison Brothers Plumbing company which later became the A. Y. McDonald and Morrison Manufacturing company and then the A. Y. McDonald company. In 1907 he became the secretary of the Kretschmer Manufacturing company and in 1916 he organized the Dubuque Sanitary Manufacturing company and was its president during its existence. In late years he was connected with the present Morrison Brothers company.

Mr. Blichmann was a member of the Mosaic Lodge No. 125 of the Masonic fraternity.

He was married to Miss Louise Glab in 1886. She preceded him in death Dec. 1, 1922.

He is survived by three children, Mrs. B. J. Triller, Mrs. W. G. Doran, and John A. Blichmann, Jr., one granddaughter and two grandsons, all of Dubuque; two brothers, Charles Blichmann, Dubuque, and Herman Blichmann, Van Nys, Calif. A sister, Mrs. I. J. Dunkley, died in Houston, Tex., several years ago.

The body is at the Egelhof Home for Funerals where services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. J. N. Lyerly of Immanuel church will officiate. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery
