Joseph W. Hoyne Jr.

Joseph W. Hoyne Jr., 44, of 45 E. 32nd St., died Friday, June 15, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1963, in Dubuque, son of Joseph W. and Shirley (Butlett) Hoyne. He married Shawna S. Miller on Sept. 21, 1996, in Dubuque.

Joe graduated from Dubuque Hempstead High School and attended classes at Northeast Iowa Community College and the University of Dubuque.

Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and collecting sports cards. One of his favorite activities was playing pool, which he began playing at the age of 15. Joe was very active in pool leagues in Dubuque until his health forced him to retire his cue.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his children. Joe was a great dad, and he will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Shawna S. Hoyne, of Dubuque; a son, Joseph W. Hoyne III, of Dubuque; a daughter, Lylletia K. "Lylly" Hoyne, of Dubuque; three brothers, John Hoyne, James Hoyne and Jeffrey (Sheri) Hoyne, all of Dubuque; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tina (Andy) Bailey, of Kansas City, Mo.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John (Leta) Miller, of Dubuque; and his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Hoyne; and his mother, Shirley (Hoyne) Schwartz.

A Joseph W. Hoyne, Jr. Memorial Fund has been established.
