Callista A. Theis Hilkin

Callista A. Theis Hilkin, 96, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 1935 Rhomberg Ave., died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Stonehill Care Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Sept. 3, 1910, in Keota, Iowa, daughter of Laborious and Helen (Roskop) Palm.

She married Clarence Thies, on Nov. 18, 1933. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1980. She then married Elmer Hilkin on Jan. 30, 1981.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and their rosary society.

Surviving are her husband, Elmer, of Dubuque; two daughters, Jeanette (Jack) Hochberger, of Dubuque, and Adel (Glenn) Hedrick, of De Witt; stepchildren, Darel L. (Ruth) Hilkin, Keith (Carol) Hilkin, Loren C. (Juanita) Hilkin, and Karen M. (Mark) Kuhle, all of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Jim (Lynn) Hochberger, Mike (Jan) Hochberger, John (Jenni) Hochberger, Greg (April) Hedrick, all of Dubuque, and Gail (Paul) Hasenmiller, of De Witt; eleven great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild; a sister, Dorothy Simon, of California; and two brothers, Kenneth Palm and Cletus (Penny) Palm, both of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary, in infancy; three grandchildren, Paul and David Hochberger and Daniel Hedrick; a great-grandson, Josh Hochberger; two sisters, Marie Noel and Violet Mellon; and three brothers, Robert, Clifford and LeRoy Palm.
