BERNARD, Iowa - Joseph N. Kass, 75, of 20073 Lehner Lane, Bernard, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Manor Care in Dubuque.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Sacred Heart, Fillmore Church, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.
Joseph was born on Aug. 30, 1927, in Dubuque, the son of Charles and Theresa (Poll) Kass. He married Margaret Metcalf on Feb. 27, 1954, at St. Catherine's Church.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He farmed in Dubuque County his whole life. He was an avid gardener and loved to play euchre.
Surviving is his wife Margaret; two daughters, Patricia Kass of Bernard, and Delores Kass, of Dubuque; two sons, Ted (Glenda) Kass of Dallas, Texas, and Steve Kass of Bernard; three grandchildren, Rachel, Kyle, and Paul Kass; four sisters, Rosie Hartung, Theresa Bastian, Mary Ann (Loras) Steffen, Betty (Noel) Kurt, and two brothers, Vernon (Janice) Kass, and Vincent (Mary Anges) Kass, all of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son-in-law, Morris Diesburg.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Manor care for all the loving care they gave Joe.
