Mildred C. "Tillie" Stroehle
EPWORTH, Iowa - Mildred C. "Tillie" Stroehle, 98, of 801 Davis St., formerly of Epworth, Iowa, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth, with the Rev. Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth, where there will be a wake service at 6 p.m. Monday.
She was a nurse at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, as well as a homemaker.
She was born on June 6, 1908, in Epworth, daughter of Thomas and Julie (Keller) Grimes. She married William "Pat" Stroehle on April 14, 1936, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth; he preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1988.
She received her education in the Epworth public schools and St. Joseph's school in Farley. She is a graduate of the former Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Epworth, and a member of the St. Patrick's Guild. She also was a member of the Mercy Hospital Nursing Alumni.
Surviving are two sons, Michael "Tim" (Dianne) Stroehle, of Dubuque and Thomas Joseph (Kay) Stroehle, of Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Sharon Ann Geddis, of Rock Hills, S.C.; six grandchildren, Kelly Ann (John) Hundley, Teva (Dennis) Sager, Raegan (Khary) Reid, Shelby (Mike) Kabela, Patrick Noah Stroehle, and Nathan Stroehle; eight great-grandchildren, Crystel, Amy, Johnie and Jessi Hundley, Colin Stroehle, Terrell and Payton Reid, and Brick Kabela.
She also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Geddis; three sisters, Helen, Agnes, and Marie Grimes; six brothers, Joe, Emmett, Neal, Donald, Jerome "Kelly," Leon; and many dear friends.
