Anthony Leo Fischer – Date of Death May 1, 1949
Anthony Leo Fischer, 59, of Route 1, three miles northeast of Bernard, died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Mercy hospital. He had been ill for nine months, seriously so for three weeks. Friends may call at the Didesch funeral home, from where the funeral will be at 9:20 a.m., Wednesday to Holy Family church, New Melleray, where requiem mass will be read at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Family cemetery. He was born on July 13, 1889, at Zwingle, a son of the late August and Catherine Manders Fischer. He married Mary Johnson on Feb. 6, 1917. He was a member of Holy Family church. He was a farmer. Surviving are his wife; six sons, Donald, Wilfred, John, Earl, Albert and Paul, all of Bernard; four daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Marie) Kass of Dewar, Ia., Bernadine, Rosemary and Dorothy, at home; a grandson, Carl Kass, of Dewar; two sisters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Gerdemann and Madeline Fischer, both of Dubuque; and several nieces and nephews.

Second Notice – Services for Anthony Leo Fischer, of route 1, Bernard, Ia., who died Sunday at Mercy hospital, were held Wednesday morning from the Didesch funeral home to Holy Family church, New Melleray, where mass was said at 10 a.m. The Rev. John Fagan of Strawberry Point, Ia., was celebrant of the mass and officiated at the burial in Holy Family cemetery. The Rev. Placid Magee delivered the sermon. Pallbearers were Art Gerdemann, Clarence Gerdemann, John Gerdemann, Francis Johnson, Joseph Johnson, and Milton Bartling, all nephews of Fischer.

Third Notice – Services for Anthony Leo Fischer, of Bernard, Ia., who died Sunday at Mercy hospital, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Didesch funeral home to Holy Family church at New Melleray, where a requiem mass will be said at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Family cemetery.
Two surviving brothers, not included in an earlier obituary, are John J. and Louis M. Fischer, both of Dubuque.
