GERALDINE E. HABERKORN

Geraldine E. "Geri" Haberkorn, 88, of Alverno Apartments, 3525 Windsor Ave., died of natural causes at 12:04 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at The Finley Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

She worked for Swift Poultry Company as a "jackie-of-all-trades" for 30 years.

She was born on Aug. 9, 1911, in Dubuque, daughter of Matthew and Mary (Smith) Kenneally.

She married John Paul Sullivan in 1936, in Dubuque; he died March 21, 1965. She then married Edward Haberkorn on Aug. 16, 1974; he died Nov. 15, 1982.

She was a lifelong resident of Dubuque. Since her retirement, she has been a full-time homemaker, mother and grandmother, who loved her family very much. She loved to dance, play cards and bingo. She was a devout Catholic who loved her religion and her Irish heritage.

Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Clark, of Dubuque; a son-in-law, Ernest Leroy (Mary Maureen) Husemann, of Dubuque; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Michael (Carol) Sullivan, of Dubuque; seven stepchildren, Keith Haberkorn, of Tampa, Fla., Sheila (Roger) Raine, of Tampa, Ed (Elaine) Haberkorn, of Dubuque, Bruce (Colleen) Haberkorn, of Bettendorf, Iowa, Steve Haberkorn, of Dubuque, Lisa Ferch, of Bursville, Minn., and Michele (Jim) Brom, of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Berg, of Dubuque and a special friend, Rose Nolan, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Paul, in April 1958, and Michael Thomas, on Feb. 7, 1999; a daughter, Mary Maureen, on June 12, 1986; a stepson Allan Haberkorn, on June 7, 1990; seven sisters; and four brothers.
