A Pleasant Occasion

On Tuesday, November 23d, by special invitation, many of the old settlors in and around cascade and from Scotch Grove met at the former place, at the residence of Mr. Elon Rafferty, Esq. a “new departure” in the Rafferty family was the happy occasion of this social gathering. Miss Olive G., the eldest of the family, and a most estimable young lady, highly esteemed by a large circle of friends, was about to depart from the familiar scenes of her childhood, and from a state of single blessedness, and be led to the hymeneal altar, by Franklin Sayne, Esq., a recent graduate of the law department of the State University, at Iowa City, and now a promising young lawyer at Cresco, in this State. About noon the happy pair, supported by two dear friends as bridesmaid and groomsman, entered the crowded parlors and were very soon united and man and wife by Rev. James Hill, pastor of the Baptist church in Cascade, assisted by Rev. James W. Beatty and the Rev. William Aitchison. After many and hearty congratulations to the new husband and wife, the parlors were deserted for the dining room, where a bounteous feast of tempting edibles, flanked by the feast of reason and the flow of soul, made it really an joyable occasion. There is every reason to believe that “Frank” has found a good wife, and “Ollie” a good husband; and we bespeak for both a never ending honeymoon and every happiness and prosperity.
