Meat Essay Wins
First in Iowa
In National Contest

Special to the nonpareil:
CHICAGO, June 29.-The essay of Miss Lottie Ungs of Dyersville entitled, “The Relation of Meat to Health,” won first place in the State of Iowa in the twelfth annual meat story contest sponsored by the National Livestock and Meat Board.

A total of 12,269 home economic students from 682 high schools in forty-eight states participated in this contest.

In her winning essay, Miss Ungs brought out the value of meat as a source of the essential food elements. Its value as a source of high quality protein was emphasized.

“Besides its food values,” stated Miss Ungs, “the flavor of meat cannot be overlooked.”

“Nothing is more pleasing to man’s appetite than meat. The many extractives not only make it palatable, but also easy to digest.”
