TIN WEDDING-Last Monday evening, Mr. J. C. Van Pelt and his estimable lady were surprised with one of those pleasant little occasions yelpt “tin wedding.” The affair was a complete surprise, so far as the recipients of the favor were concerned. About 9 o’clock p.m. a knock was heard at the door, and upon opening it, in rushed a whole troop of neighbors and friends, male and female, old and young, each bearing in their arms some article of tin ware, either useful or ornamental, or perhaps both. Without so much as saying “by your leave” they took possession of the parlors and invited in Mr. and Mrs. Van Pelt, made a formal presentation of their rich and elegant presents. This part of the ceremony finished, the festivities of the evening commenced in earnest, the company adjourning about 12 o’clock to the residence of C. J. Rogers, Esq., where the misty mazes of the dance were indulged in to an early hour. It was a very enjoyable affair, and as such will long be remembered by all parties concerned.
