Frank Hess was born in Luxemburg on Dec. 21, 1886. Frank Hess was the son of Michael and Margaret (Heiderscheit) Hess. On Jan. 12, 1909, he married Elizabeth Pins at Bankston. Elizabeth was born June 11, 1888. Frank had a blacksmith shop in Farley in the 30’s. He was a feed salesman for 20 years and was associated with the Oelwein Chemical Co. Frank died on May 28, 1957 and Elizabeth on Nov. 11, 1985. They had one daughter and three sons: Irene Knopp, Cyril J. James, and Dr. John F.
