Samuel & Catherine (Lambert) Streif

Samuel Streif came to America from Switzerland first settling in Clayton County in 1864. It was the time of the Civil War in this country. Unable to become a solider, Samuel worked as a lumberman in Clayton County for a number of years.

Mr. Strief married Catherine Lambert, a local girl and a German immigrant. Upon the advice of Peter Streif, Samuel purchased a farm in Iowa Township in Section 29, now the Bob and Ann Heisler farm.

Their children were Margaret, George, Anna C. (Kate), John J., Mary T., Anna M., Joseph D., Cecilia, Frances J., Mary L., William F. and Louisa who died around the age of twelve years.
The Streif’s are buried in the catholic cemetery

Samuel was the grandfather of Clarence Streif of Farley.
