George David Nichols was born in England, August 5, 1853. He came to America and settled on a farm near Worthington, Iowa.

He married Mary Jane Gould on December 17, 1871 at Cascade, Iowa. Seven children were born to this union: John, Edna, Laura, Mae, Lottie, Blanch, and Albert. They later retired in Farley.

Mary Jane was born December 5, 1853 and died March 2, 1898. George married a second time to Annie Pool.

Mr. Nichols died March 16, 1943. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Dyersville.

Lottie married Ed Wood who was a barber in Farley for many years.
