It was a woman against a woman in an almost murderous affair on Dodge Street yesterday morning. Mrs. George Collinson and Miss Reynolds, sisters, were out picking goldenrod when they met Mrs. John Lenehan and Mrs. Kate Doherty. A feud had existed between Reynolds and Lenehan folks for some time, and before long the four women, two on each side, were engaged in a wordy war. The upshot of it was, as told to Justice Gratz by the complainants, that Mrs. Lenehan and Mrs. Doherty began to beat the other two women with clubs. Then while Mrs. Doherty held Mrs. Collinson, Mrs. Lenehan struck her over the head with a hatchet. Later on, in this fashion, Miss Reynolds, also, had her head smashed.Mrs. Collinson and Miss Reynolds, with their heads bandaged, appeared before Squire Gratz and swore out warrants for the arrest of the other two women. The trial has been set for Saturday.
