Nearly All of the Hunters Bare Marks of
the Wreck – Mr. Ayers of Elma May Die
~
The Minnewaukon Club returned yesterday morning from its hunting expedition to Devil’s Lake, nearly every member bears evidence of the wreck of the club’s private car near New Rockford N. D. Those who escaped are Andy Patch, Titus Schmid and John Kleinschmidt, who left the coach for the baggage car to get liquid refreshments just before the accident occurred. At first it was reported that Andy Patch was so badly injured he could not survive. Mr. Ayers, of Elma, had his back broken and may not live. Dr. Earl, of Waukon, had his neck wrenched severely and his son’s leg was broken. Mr. Behrens, of Elma, is also severely injured. The more severely injured of the Dubuquers are Adam Jaeger, scalp wound; Frank Jaeger, cuts on the face; Joe Reinfried, bruised leg; Ollie Glab, cuts on the face.

Settlements have been made by claim agent of the Northern Pacific with all the injured persons except Messrs. Earl, Behrens, Ayers and Francis Jaeger, when the change in the directory owing to the overthrow of the Henry Villard administration put a stop to negotiations.
