Ike Dieffendorfer and Harry Utley of the Burlington Road, in this city, went down to Clinton yesterday to ride over the new short line of the Davenport, Rock Island and Northwestern, which was a few days ago leased by the Burlington and Milwaukee Roads. The line runs from Clinton to Davenport on the Iowa side of the river, and in a short line, being only forty-three miles in length. This shortens the Burlington Road between Dubuque and St. Louis, and is considered a valuable addition to that road. Mr. Dieffendorfer said the new road is remarkably smooth, and the trains are making scheduled times over it.
