GEOLOGICAL – Prof. A. H. Worthen, State Geologist of Illinois, and Capt. E. H. Beebee, Galena, also distinguished for his geological researches and collections, have spent two days among the rocks in the vicinity of Dubuque. Their principal object was the collection of fossils of the Trenton limestone and of the slate in both of which they contained a variety of specimens of much interest. They were accompanied by both Mr. H. T. Woodman and Mr. Childs of this city, who were able to point of the localities where, with the least labor, the fossils sought for could be obtained. The region around Dubuque is said to be very attractive to Geologists, and they are always welcomed by our citizens as men whose observation tend to make our local region known still better aboard.
