Dubuque Democratic Herald – July 2, 1864

The residence of Mr. Strueser, in West Dubuque, has been sold to Mr. H. Hedeman of Pin Oak. Who has taken possession and will renovate the building from ceiling to garret, and continue the saloon de apartments. On the grounds back of the house, there is a young thriving vineyard, heavily loaded with grapes, from the sale of which last season over $200 was realized. The terms were made easy for the purchaser, and the whole estate was sold at a bargain. Mr. Hedeman is an old steamboat Captain, having for years run a boat between New Orleans and the mouth of the Ohio.
